A lot of my clients have been wondering about Hypnosis, So I thought I would write a bit about it:
Let us start by answering what Hypnosis is: well, to be honest, no one yet has been able to fully explain what it is, scientist are still trying to solve that one. one would say This is a really small piece of the puzzle, a quite large puzzle: how the human mind works. People have been pondering and arguing over hypnosis for more than 200 years!
psychiatrists do understand the general characteristics of hypnosis, and they have some model of how it works. It is a trance state characterized by extreme relaxation and heightened imagination. It’s not really like sleep because one is still alert the whole time. Imagine it to be a bit like daydreaming, or the feeling of “losing yourself” in a movie. one is fully conscious, but you tune out most of the ‘noise’ around you. You focus intently in the moment.
One theory is that the deep relaxation and focusing exercises of hypnotism work to calm and relax the conscious mind, to take what you would call a ‘back seat’ for your sub-conscience take over, the conscience is still aware. This allows you and the hypnotist to work directly with the subconscious. It’s as if the hypnotism process opens apart you can control inside your mind.
Here 5 things Hypnosis can help with:
- Anxiety and Depression.
- weight problems
- remember something blocked in your mind or a trauma.
these are just a few things that Hypnosis can help with, but I have to mention that it is not for everyone, and for some people it may not even work.
